Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. The name of her parents was derived from the town she grew up in. Her father Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder is Jewish. Ryder believes that her father was from a Jewish origin. She has also a half-sister named Sunyata Jubal. Her younger sibling is Uria. When Ryder was only seven her family relocated from Mendocino County, California. Mendocino County California. They lived in a place without electricity. Ryder was a prolific reader due to the lack of television. Ryder started taking classes in acting in the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983 at the age of 12. Ryder landed her first film role on the big screen in 1986 when she was 15 years young. Ryder was subject to bullying in high school. Her acting career, she hoped to help, could have helped her. However, it didn't occur. It didn't stop her from making plans for her future. Her biggest break came in 1988 with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was a star in several films. In 1993 she received two nominations in the Academy Awards. One of was for her performance as a character in The Age of Innocence.
